Meet Your First Piece

You’ve learned where C–D–E–F–G are on the keyboard, how to use your right-hand fingers, and how to keep a steady beat.

Now you’re ready to put those skills together and play your first complete melody.

You don’t need to read music on a staff yet. For now, note names and finger numbers will guide you.

Get Your Right Hand Ready

Find Middle C and place your right-hand thumb on it. Let your other fingers rest naturally on the next four white keys.

Can You Play It Without the Guide?

Look away from the note guide and see how much of the melody you remember.

You Played Your First Piece

You just played your first piano piece.

You used note names, finger numbers, five different keys and a steady beat to turn individual notes into a melody.

That’s an important step: you’re no longer just finding notes — you’re making music with them.

You can now:

  • play C–D–E–F–G with your right hand
  • use fingers 1–5
  • follow a simple note-name melody
  • keep a steady beat
  • play a short piece from beginning to end
